The section is in operation
with the following mandates: (a) preparation of guidelines
and master plan; (b) carrying out research and developing
appropriate technology; (c) coordination among various agencies
involved in the sector; (d) supervision, monitoring and evaluation
of projects under implementation
The section in financial collaboration with world health
organization is preparing "A Draft National Policy and
Implementation Strategy on Wastewater and Storm water Management
in Nepal". In Kathmandu valley two pilot projects are
under implementation namely Thimi drainage and Thaib. Out
side Kathmandu valley, drainage systems are under implementation
in nine districts (Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Ilam, Saptari, Siraha,
Dhading, Chitwan, Gorkha and Banke). Section has completed
feasibility study in 20 urban centres and detail study in
5 cities.
The section operates in partnership with municipalities,
DDC, VDC, NWSC, and I/NGOs.
